How to Create a Virtual Press Kit
Before you begin any sort of media outreach, we recommend you create a Virtual Press Kit or media kit to refer journalists to via email and phone. These kits are one-stop-shops for the media, offering everything they need to know in a format they’re familiar with. We create and host all of our clients’ Virtual Press Kits online so the media has access to everything they’ll need whenever they’re working on their story – day or night.
Planning to create your own Virtual Press Kit? Make sure you include the following information:
- A media contact, phone number and email address.
- What makes your company different from your competitors.
- The products/services you offer.
- Your company’s location – especially the website.
- Cost of your products or services (or a price range).
- High-resolution images (at least 3×5 at 300dpi).
- Anything else that might be newsworthy.
When we create Virtual Press Kits, we answer the following six questions:
- Who can I contact about it?
- What is it?
- Where is it?
- How much is it?
- What are a few story ideas?
- What else?
Make sure you write clearly so the text is easy to read and informative as well. For examples visit our client’s Virtual Press Kits.
