As spring is beginning to emerge throughout the country, a lot of people are starting to think about spring cleaning. In addition to re-evaluating the clothes in your closet, now is the perfect time to give your brand’s online presence a good ole’ cleaning as well. Where do you get started?

Spring Cleaning Your Brand’s Online Presence

Follow these steps to clean up your brand's online presence.

Follow these steps to clean up your brand’s online presence.

Spring cleaning your brand’s online presence can be done in four steps.

  1. Evaluate where you are. The best place to start is to evaluate where you are. Review your website. Look through every social media. Search for your business on Google to check for any accounts you may have created and forgotten about. Make sure you keep track of all these different sites and profiles so you can easily come back and evaluate again next year. I’d recommend creating a master spreadsheet that details the website, login information, ideas for improvement and any other notes you want to keep handy.
  2. Think about the big picture. How do all your different sites fit into your overall brand? Does your website reflect your business accurately? How do social media profiles fit into the big picture. Are all of them being used effectively and worth your time? Because a lot of consumers judge businesses by their website and social networks, it’s important your overall online presence is consistent and cohesive.
  3. Evaluate. Go through every single page of your website, each social media profile and any other pages you have control over for your business (such as Google Places). On your master spreadsheet, take detailed notes of what you’d like to improve. Separate them into three categories: right away, sometime this year and goals for next year. I find it helpful to color code as well so you can glance through and see what needs to be done.
  4. Prioritize. Look through your notes and prioritize what needs to be done first. If you have staff that can help, don’t be afraid to delegate. As a busy entrepreneur, you won’t have time to do it all right away, so schedule short blocks of time during your work hours to spend updating your business’ website and social media profiles.

Ultimately, spring cleaning your brand’s online presence will take time, but it will end up being well worth it in the long run. Do you need suggestions for making your website or social media profiles stronger? Contact us! Three Girls Media is happy to help you out.
