Now that you have your blog up and going, how do you tell people about it?

Congratulations! You’ve taken the first step in growing your business’ social media presence by starting your very own blog. It is a powerful marketing tool that can boost your website’s SEO, bring visitors to your website and convince potential customers that you’re the right business for them. Not only that, it can also help position you as an expert in your field, and it gives existing customers a reason to come back to your site. So now that you have your blog up and going, how do you tell people about it? The best way is to take a strategic approach to spreading the word. Here are three tips to getting your new blog seen.

Get Your Business Blog Seen

1.    Share It! – One of the best ways of announcing your business’ new blog is to share it via social media. Since social media has become the go-to source for news and information for most people, it makes it the perfect place for you to share your new blog. When you start your big publicity push, write posts announcing you have a blog and make sure to share the blog posts you have already written on your social media channels.

However, be sure to follow the 80/20 rule of social media; 80% should be content from outside sources such as tips & tricks, news articles etc., and only 20% should be self-promotional content. You don’t want to turn people off your business blog before you’ve even gotten it off the ground by only talking about yourself or your business.

Another social media tip is to make sure to share your new business blog on Google+. While all social media channels are a great way to have people discover your blog, the Google+ social media platform plays a significant role in how Google views your company as a content creator and how it ranks your website. If your company doesn’t have a Google+ page yet, you need to get one and share your blog posts on it.

2.   Good Old Press Release – While the trend for sharing anything and everything about your business is doing it on social media, you don’t want to forget about old school ways of promotion. Press releases are still relevant and beneficial; consider creating a press release about your new blog to share with media and prompt them to spread the word. You can also post it on your website, making sure to carefully craft the press release with relevant keywords, links and images, all while keeping the readers in mind. Remember, today’s press releases must serve double duty as storytellers and SEO boosters. Lastly, do a Google search for ‘free press release sites’ that will allow you to post your press release online for free.

3.   Tell Friends & Family – Some business owners are hesitant to tell their family or friends about their blog because they feel nervous about possibly getting criticized. However, you shouldn’t be. Your most loyal fans are your family and friends! They can help you start a buzz about your new blog by sharing it with their contacts. So make sure to use that knowledge to you advantage.

4.   RSS Feed – Finally, consider creating an RSS feed to help boost a new blog’s readership. It allows consumers to sign up to receive an email every time you publish a new post. While it sounds complicated, creating an RSS feed is pretty simple. Try using Feedblitz to easily set up your feed.
