At Three Girls Media, one way we’re proud to take action to help the breast cancer cause year-round is by supporting My Hope Chest. This national non-profit is the only one in the country that focuses on reconstructive surgery for uninsured and underinsured breast cancer survivors.
Why is this important?
Just as a caterpillar may see its world coming to an end before it becomes a butterfly, women facing breast cancer are terrified by the unknown. Still, of those that survive treatment, many discover that breast reconstruction isn’t always covered by insurance, despite it being the final step in overcoming this debilitating disease.
My Hope Chest steps in for survivors left feeling insecure and incomplete, providing breast reconstruction for uninsured and underinsured women and transforming them into strong, confident butterflies. Their work helps restore self-esteem, dignity and confidence to breast cancer survivors by facilitating and funding, as needed, reconstructive surgery for those who do not have adequate financial means to afford such surgery and to educate survivors on their breast reconstruction options.
