- Share the Load
Cooking a large meal is a group effort. Thanksgiving is a great occasion to gather family and friends to help cook and clean alongside you. Coming together to create a shared finished project is also a great bonding opportunity! Use this lesson in your daily work. Share your tasks and responsibilities with your coworkers when you’re feeling overwhelmed and delegate tasks. After all, teamwork makes it dream work!
- Avoid Overindulgence
Although Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to gorge yourself full of delicious food, sometimes we eat too much. Try to pace yourself and avoid going back for too many helpings. It is also good to pace yourself in your public relations efforts. Don’t send out multiple pitches and press releases in too short of a time. You will exhaust your audience and your emails will begin to look like spam. Work slowly and steadily, just like you would pace yourself at Thanksgiving dinner.
- Remember the Basics
While gathering for a feast is a lot of fun, it is important to remember why we sat down to dinner in the first place. Thanksgiving is about spending quality time with family, friends and loved ones, and being thankful for what we have. While details like decorations and side dishes can get overwhelming and become the focus of your day, it’s important to take a step back and reflect. Likewise, it’s important to remember the focal point of the message your public relations campaign is conveying.
