What Makes a Good Tagline
I was recently helping Three Girls client, Life by Travel, craft a new marketing tagline to go with their new logo. They asked what attributes make for a good message, and I realized that a lot of people probably don’t consider the fundamentals when crafting one, rather they often rely on what might sound catchy – but that’s only part of the challenge! A tagline is the key phrase that identifies your business by capturing the essence of three elements:

Hooked on ControlTV
Over the last few weeks I’ve been hooked on ControlTV, a new Internet reality show produced by Seth Green and Ken Fuchs (The Bachelor). What makes ControlTV different from other reality TV shows is the level of interaction with the audience.
The show’s site has a live stream of Tristan Couvares, the subject, pretty much all day every day. As you watch the live stream, ControlTV puts up a vote so viewers can help decide what Tristan’s going to do – like buying a pet hamster (and what to name his hamster) or who to call for a date (and what to wear on that date). Every day or two the producers post 3-minute recap videos so you can keep up, even if you can’t watch the live stream the whole time. Read more

Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrews Sisters Debuts
Those of you in or near the San Francisco Bay Area can experience history first-hand over the next 6 weeks. Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrews Sisters debuts tonight at The Retro Dome in San Jose and runs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through August 15.
What makes this show better than all the others the Bay Area has to offer? As San Jose Theater Arts Examiner David John Chavez explained in his recent preview:
The Andrews Sisters remain one of the most fascinating and recognizable groups in music history. To hear their chippy tunes and their smooth harmonies is to travel back in time to World War II. The dark light in the United States after the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941 was brightened by the lovely girls from Minnesota; Eldest sister LaVerne (the red-head), middle sister Maxene (the brunette), and youngest sister Patty (the blonde). With the United States reeling from the war, the sisters brought peace, calm and hope to a nation… Read more
