Trying to schedule out social media updates but feeling stuck? Whether you’re writing posts for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Google+, here are 10 helpful tips and tricks to come up with creative updates for your business:

  1. Check your blog. Has anyone on your team (or have you) written a new blog post recently? Share it on your social media channels!
  2. Subscribe and share. Do you have favorite industry blogs or newsletters you like to read? Subscribe to a few of them and spend a few minutes browsing through them. Make note of the ones you like and share them along with a brief comment or question.
  3. Reveal the human side. Every business is made up of people, so showcase yourself and your employees. Post about recent team accomplishments, both personal and professional.
  4. Post photos. As we’ve said before, images are powerful. Post a few pictures and add captions that include what they’re showing (e.g. today’s team meeting or living it up at a recent conference).
  5. Look at a calendar. Is there anything seasonal coming up that you could talk about? Ask your followers what they’ve got planned for an upcoming holiday or why they like this time of year.
  6. Related memes. Have you seen an Internet meme going around that is related to your industry? Share it on your social media channels!
  7. Something inspiring. Were you recently inspired by a quote or picture? Post it on your page and tell your followers how it inspired you!
  8. Business partners. Are there companies you work with and recommend to clients? Include posts about them and share their news on your pages.
  9. Upcoming events. Planning to attend a conference or tradeshow? Let your social media followers know and ask them to connect with you if they’ll be there, too.
  10. Promote a service. Go ahead and post about a brand new service you offer or highlight an existing service, just don’t do it too often. We generally recommend the 80/20 rule: Make sure 80 percent of what you share offers some sort of value to your readers, but go ahead and promote yourself in the other 20 percent of your posts.
