Online coverage can be better than print coverage

When talking to business owners about their dream media outlets, they almost always mention a major magazine (usually O, The Oprah Magazine). While a placement in a major publication like O can be beneficial, a lot of clients don’t realize the true benefits of Internet coverage.

Placements online can actually be stronger for your business. Here are 5 reasons online coverage is better than print coverage:

  1. It lives forever. Unlike a monthly magazine that comes out and is gone four weeks later, online coverage lives on an outlet’s site forever. Once you have the permalink, you can post it on your site, send it to friend/family and refer potential clients to the endorsement for years.
  2. It provides a direct link to your site. Although a magazine might list your website, a reader has to remember to visit it when they’re in front of a computer. Online coverage, however, provides a direct link a reader can click right away so they can visit instantly.
  3. It is easier to share. With the rise of social media, coverage is easier than ever to share. Sure, you could scan a magazine article in, but with an online article you can immediately post it to your website, blog, Facebook page, Twitter page, etc. Your friends can even comment on the original post, too!
  4. It is easier to secure. Because there aren’t a limited number of pages online, it’s easier to secure online placements. That means you can secure more placements in less time and, ultimately, secure wider reach so more people see your business!
  5. It increases your SEO. Online media coverage actually increases your SEO (Search Engine Optimization). One factor in determining your SEO is the number and prominence of links to your site. The more websites linking to your site, the more your website will be picked up by search engines. Read more at http://ow.ly/2CsEs.
