Erika Taylor Montgomery

CEO

Erika Taylor Montgomery, CEO and Founder of Three Girls Media Inc., enjoyed an 18-year broadcasting career in the San Francisco Bay Area before transitioning to Public Relations and Marketing. In 2005, Montgomery launched Three Girls Media, a personalized PR and custom content marketing agency, in Silicon Valley; the firm specializes in working with small and mid-size companies worldwide. In 2013 she relocated the company to the greater Seattle area.

Erika is the co-author of the bestselling book, The Spirit of Silicon Valley – Journeys & Transformations Beyond Technology, available on Amazon.com. In addition, she was the creator and host of PUNCH! Media & Marketing Made Easy, a popular educational talk show on KDOW 1220am, The Wall Street Business Network. Currently, she also hosts a popular micro-podcast called Two Minute Marketing Tips, available on the Chirp app (downloadable on iOS), as well as on the Three Girls Media blog.

Erika is also a sought-after public speaker giving regular talks, including keynotes, at a variety of workshops, conferences and meetings on the topics of public relations, marketing and social media.

As a journalist, Erika covered Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign, the San Francisco/Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989 and the infamous Oakland Hills fire; she also enjoyed the lighter side of TV, hosting The Simpsons and Star Trek marathons for the WB network. Following her award-winning broadcasting career, and prior to beginning Three Girls, Erika worked as Director of Media Relations for a prestigious Silicon Valley PR firm where she managed campaigns for NBC, including work with the cast of Will & Grace and Crossing Jordan. She also spent several years working for the California State Legislature as a Press Secretary.

Erika’s personal media accomplishments include more than 5,000 media placements in outlets including The Wall Street Journal, InStyle, Oprah, USA Today, The New York Times, the Washington Post, Fox News, CNN and MSNBC, as well as international press throughout Europe, Mexico and Australia.

When she’s not in the office you’ll likely find Erika hanging out with Effy, Three Girls’ Office Greeter and her four-footed bestie and cooking or baking, two of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoys planting and caring for her large veggie garden, picking organic blackberries that surround her country property, Moose Hollow, and binge watching TV shows like Deadliest Catch, Top Chef and Project Runway.

Senior Director of Marketing & PR

Emily joined Three Girls Media’s team in 2006 and hasn’t looked back. With a strong background in writing, organization and creativity, she loves getting the word out about small and medium-sized businesses!

In addition to managing social media and blog campaigns across a wide range of industries (from home design, cooking and wellness to student loans, law and multi-state taxation), Emily has also worked with media outlets across the country, such as The View, Women’s Health, Prevention and CNET, to secure hundreds of editorial media placements for Three Girls’ clients.

Emily holds a B.A. in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. Before she came to Three Girls, she was Publicity Chair for the Pacific Lutheran University “Relay For Life” marathon for the American Cancer Society, which won three awards for the campaign. She also developed a strategic campaign for the Veterans Affairs program in Washington and served on the Lute Crew Alumni Association’s board as Provisional Communications Director.

Outside the office, Emily is very active at her church and volunteers in multiple capacities. She enjoys playing in the rain, dance parties with her husband and kids, and spending time with friends and family.

Lara Dunning

Marketing & PR Specialist

Lara joined the Three Girls Media team in 2019. Much of her writing and content creation background has focused on small towns, which has helped her develop a passion for helping spread the word about the services and experiences local businesses provide for their communities.

Lara holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a dual focus on children’s/young adult and creative nonfiction, and has several published literary essays, including a Pushcart Prize nomination. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology.

Lara is the founder of Small Town Washington & Beyond, a travel blog dedicated to inspiring travelers to visit and explore small towns. She has worked with destinations such as Experience Anacortes and Whidbey Camano Islands and has written for a variety of trade and travel publication such as Bellingham Alive, Family Vacation Critic, and Meeting News Northwest. Before her freelance career, she managed a Pacific Northwest boating book publishing and distribution company and helped developed its content marketing and social media presence.

When Lara isn’t tapping away at her keyboard, she enjoys watching historical dramas and Grand Sumo Tournaments, geeking out over history, and hiking with Hazel, her Australian Cattle Dog.

Anna Izenman

Marketing & PR Specialist

Anna joined the Three Girls Media team in 2018. Her background in news production helped grow her passion for finding unique stories and sharing them with the world. She believes strongly in supporting small and local businesses and is excited to help shine a spotlight on them.

Anna holds a B.A. in Communications with a focus on Media Production and Performance for Pacific Lutheran University. Before joining Three Girls, her production work with Northwest Cable News earned her an Emmy nomination.

Most of Anna’s free time is spent with her husband and son enjoying the sights and sounds of the Pacific Northwest. She also enjoys game design, and has successfully crowdfunded a tabletop roleplaying game designed for kids and families.

Cas Johnson-Villalobos

Marketing & PR Specialist

Cas joined the Three Girls’ Team in 2019. He draws from a multifaceted background in professional writing, customer service and working with a variety of small businesses. He is passionate about consumer access, integrity of information and sustainable practices.

Cas holds a dual Bachelors of Arts and Sciences from The Evergreen State College (TESC) in applied anthropology and environmental science. Prior to attending TESC, he graduated with an Associate of Arts with an emphasis in anthropology from South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC). While studying at SPSCC, he earned a Diversity Leadership Institute Certificate from the campus’ Office for Diversity and Equity.

He has created and edited content for The Sounds News at SPSCC, the Cooper Point Journal at TESC, and the Olympia-area start-up GoodTherapy. In his first year at the Cooper Point Journal the publication received honorable at the 2013 College Media and Journalism Conference in New York City. The following year, Cas expanded local business news coverage and advertising reach while working as the newspaper’s Business Manager.

Since working at the Cooper Point Journal, Cas has provided technical writing support for a variety of state and federal projects. He has also dedicated several years of retail support to the Olympia Farmers Market and the San Francisco Street Bakery – two major local establishments of the South Puget Sound area.

In his free time, he enjoys critiquing newspaper layout with his partner, tutoring high school students in writing and painting portraits of his friends’ pets.

Effy Montgomery

Office Greeter

Effy Zoey Faye, simply known around Three Girls as Effy, very much enjoys her role as “Office Greeter” and 4-footed best friend to Erika, Three Girls’ CEO. With her own Instagram account, Effy dishes out great marketing advice in a series titled, “Effy Says…” Follow her on Instagram at @Effy_On_Business.

Effy is a Chihuahua Pug mix with a petite face, a curlicue of a tail and beautiful golden eyes, and adores wearing anything that keeps her warm. Erika found Effy at the Silicon Valley Humane Society; the shelter picked her up as a stray. She is very happy to be living with her forever family.

Outside the office, Effy is a friendly dog that enjoys the simple things in life. Her daily schedule consists of long naps on Erika’s desk or on the back of her sofa and walks through Erika’s country property, Moose Hollow. She loves eating raw baby carrots, burrowing under the covers of the bed and playing with furry stuffed toys, especially her favorites – a chicken that clucks and cow that moos.
