Foursquare is an increasingly popular social networking tool for businesses with physical locations. Foursquare allows your customers to check-in, access special deals and read reviews. Using this tool can be very helpful to your business. These three easy tips will help you grow your company using Foursquare.

  1. Let Your Customers Know!

If your customers don’t know that you’re on Foursquare, it can’t impact your business positively. Post a sign in your window letting your customers know to check-in on Foursquare. You can also use your other social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to let customers know about your presence on Foursquare. “It will help drive conversation, even from non-Foursquare users, and will create buzz around your venue resulting in higher social media interaction from your customers,” according to getbusymedia.com. “As seen with many small businesses, just being on Foursquare will bring new followers to your Facebook page and Twitter account, which is certainly a nice added bonus.”

  1. Offer Reasonable Deals

The reason many customers use Foursquare is for the deals. You want to give your customers good deals, but you don’t want to put yourself out of business in the process. Lauren Drell of mashable.com reminds business owners, “If you’re a cupcake shop, you might not to be able to afford giving away a free cupcake with each check-in. That’s fine, just get more creative and offer a more exclusive special. Perhaps you can do a loyalty special so that people get a reward — a free cupcake — on every third or fourth visit.” When you give people rewards every third or fourth visit it creates incentive to come back and this will help you create loyal customers.

  1. Use “Mayor” Status as a Perk

Once you’ve encouraged customers to come back, create additional perks of visiting your business. Foursquare mayorships are awarded to your customers with the most days checked into your venue over the last 60 days. “The user that checks in the most at a certain location will gain the notoriety of becoming ‘mayor’ of that location. I have actually witnessed people fight over becoming mayor. If you offered special perks to the mayor of your location (e.g. their name on a board, gift certificate for the month, free beverage or maybe a puppy!) it will encourage Foursquare users to visit your location more often,” says Kyle Lacy.

Foursquare encourages existing customers to visit your business again, and it draws in new customers. Follow these 3 simple tips and your Foursquare account will help you boost your business.
