We all know that I love to write about the things that caught my attention during the week and today’s blog post is no exception. There are 24 Monday nights each year that I can be found in Beacon Hills or just glued to my TV, and this past Monday was one of the most enthralling Monday’s of them all! That’s right folks; I am a loud and proud Teen Wolf fan and this week’s season finale, as well as the previous death of fan favorite Allison Argent, still has my head spinning! In this blog post, I introduce three marketing and public relations lessons that can be learned from this 1980’s movie remake turned teen heartthrob supernatural action adventure.
Three Teen Wolf Marketing Lessons:
1. Teamwork always wins: Teen Wolf is richly rooted in the idea of friendship and the development of “wolf packs” in order to ensure the safety of Beacon Hills and its residents. Imagine your social media or marketing demographics as your own Beacon Hills and your marketing team members as your wolf pack. Working together to determine the path to success is what will set you apart from those competitors who go it alone.
2. Knowledge is power: Whether it is Allison Argent or Derek Hale, someone in Beacon Hills always seems to have secret mythical knowledge that relates to the situation at hand, and in turn, helps the pack survive their struggle. Just as the characters on Teen Wolf, it is essential to do the research and have an understanding of your own marketing goals and target demographics before heading into battle. Being familiar with your marketing campaign’s environment and potential outcomes will better equip you for the various possible outcomes of your efforts.
3. When plan A doesn’t work, be ready with plan B: It is no secret that Allison Argent, Scott McCall and his brooding pack of pups have a tendency of falling into trouble, but how they survive is always dependent upon their strategic plans for success. When dealing with your own efforts, prepare yourself with multiple plans just in case your initial plan doesn’t quite pan out the way you intended.
Beacon Hills is clearly a fictional mecca for the supernatural, but the phenomenon that is Teen Wolf is just as tangible as the shoes on my feet. Take note my friends, the fans of Scott McCall, Derek Hale, Stiles, Lydia and the late Allison Argent are loyal, and the lessons we can take away from these Beacon Hills adventures will aid in the creation of your own marketing ‘wolf pack.’
