3 Social Media Marketing Lessons from Let’s Make a Deal

If you’ve never seen Let’s Make a Deal you are in for a treat. This just may be the craziest, wildest show on TV and host Wayne Brady brings the fun. While watching the game show on my holiday break I couldn’t help but find social media marketing lessons behind doors number 1, 2 and 3.

3 Social Media Marketing Lessons from Let’s Make a Deal

  1. Encourage Social Media Use

At the end of each episode, the hosts of the show go around and ask the studio audience if they have specific items in their possession. These items can range from an empty milk carton, a broken crayon or anything else imaginable. Who knows how the show comes up with these items, but it’s easy for the audience to figure out what to bring. By following the show on Twitter, participants are told what to bring and earn easy money by doing so. Incorporate your business’ social media accounts into your email signature and marketing efforts to gain fans and followers and keep your audience informed.

  1. Risk the Zonks

While the show offers incredible prizes and even a chance to win $20,000, there are also those pesky zonks. Zonks can be anything from the end of a game to a car covered in moss or a Velcro couch. It can be challenging for contestants to keep playing for a new car or a trip when there are zonks lurking around. But sometimes, you just have to risk them! Trying a new marketing campaign can be a thrilling and risky challenge that is worth experiencing. Whether your company wants to try a social media campaign for the first time or wants to rebrand, taking the risk is worth potential success.

  1. Have Fun!

Viewers of the program are guaranteed to see the most outrageous costumes imaginable. Contestants go all out wearing full body casts, cow costumes and astronaut get ups. These people know how to have fun and are encouraged to do so. A social media campaign should have elements of fun as well. Images have proven to be valuable for user engagement and shares among social media users. By including a fun meme, video or infographic in your social media content, you are encouraging engagement and interaction among your followers.

Let’s Make a Deal is a fun and exciting show full of risks and fantastical costumes. What other social media marketing lessons have you learned from this game show or others you watch? Share what you’ve gleaned in the comments below.
