Business professionals are always looking for ways to hit their goals, and for many it boils down to one major theme: generating leads that ultimately drive new business. Twitter has launched a new way for a business to reach those goals through their Lead Generation Cards within their Twitter Card suite.
What are Twitter Cards and Lead Generation Cards?
According to their website, Twitter Cards make it possible for business professionals to attach media experiences to Tweets that link to content. The idea is to allow companies to present the contents of their website in a more engaging manner. In order to make Twitter Cards work, a website owner needs to add some HTML code to their webpages.
This code will enable those site visitors who tweet links to the page to have a card added to the tweet. The card is then visible to those who see the tweet. They show much more detail from the articles and posts that were not there before, which now gives potential readers a preview of the content on the actual full website. By using Twitter Cards, Twitter partners (those websites that use Twitter for marketing) are able to offer their Twitter audience a richer experience.
Lead Generation Cards are a new addition to the Twitter Card suite. These cards make it easy for users to express interest in what your brand offers. Users can easily and securely share their email address with a business without leaving Twitter or having to fill out a form.
When someone expands your Tweet, they see a description of the offer and call to action. Their name, @username and email address are already pre-filled within the Card. The user simply clicks a button to send the information directly and securely to whoever set up the post/ad.
Twitter’s new Lead Generation Card is the latest in a series of expandable tweet formats that enable marketers to leverage so-called, “native advertising.” According to Twitter’s VP-Global Online Sales, Richard Alfonsi, in Twitter’s way of thinking, a paid strategy builds and amplifies an organic strategy. He also believes that being authentic on Twitter and connecting with your followers is a good start. Building on that with a native-ad platform based interest and keywords is the natural progression.
Right now, the Lead Generation Cards are only available to Twitter’s managed clients. However, they have plans to launch the Card globally and to small and medium sized businesses.
