This is the first week in September which means school has started, football season is beginning and summer is almost officially over. As we transition into fall we are leaving behind sunny days, shorts and flip flops, and the constant need for sunglasses. Though the weather may be changing over into rain and overcast skies, we should not totally forsake what we have learned over the past few months.
The social media efforts you made over the summer season don’t have to be once a year endeavors. Here are three thinking points to review from your last campaign to take with you into the last part of the year.
3 Reflections in Social Media Management
- Connections Made
Many new friends and connections are made over the summer. Sometimes you meet people and only ever talk to them once, while with others you make an effort to continue on and build a relationship with. Reflect on what you know and have learned about your new connections and see if you can evolve your communication into a permanent relationship. These summer time friends can morph into great clients or business partners.
- Successful Efforts
Did you branch out and try something new this summer? What different marketing strategies and techniques did you attempt? Take a look back at what you found to be the most successful and what may not have worked, and go from there. What efforts got you the most user engagement and what seemed to be totally ignored? Hold on to what worked with you into the fall and try and fixing what wasn’t successful. There is always room for improvement and reflection at the end and beginning of each campaign.
- New Social Media Platforms
Did you finally get your business on Instagram? While summer may be a time to post awesome beach or sunset pictures on Instagram, your account shouldn’t go dead with the changing of the season. Many businesses are finding that interaction is rising among Instagram users. Also, keep up your hard work on Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites you may be on. These may not be new platforms for your business, but it is also important not to overlook the established user fan base you have created while trying to reach new customers on other sites.
Summer may soon be over, but that doesn’t mean fall won’t be just as fun or memorable. What successful lessons or memories do you have from summer that you will bring with you into the upcoming seasons? Share with us in the comments below!
