Leave it to the past to teach you social media lessons. After recently visiting a local museum for my county, I was inspired by the rich detail and stories told. Here are three social media lessons from a local museum.
3 Lessons in Social Media from a Museum
- Offer Something for Free
One of the initial perks of the museum was that there was no cost to get in. Offering something for free to fans and customers is a great way to create regular patrons. Whether it’s a coupon or free advice on social media channels, keep them interested in what you have to offer.
- Provide a History
As with most museums, this one provided a detailed history of their exhibits. Getting the complete overview of the town I live in was a fascinating experience. When using social media for your small business make sure to completely fill out the “About me” section. This is where new customers will first learn about your company and how you came to be.
- Use Images
Images and artifacts really add a valuable element to walking a museum. Actually seeing the old photographs of burned down buildings and what the streets used to look like help relate text to the past. The use of images on social media channels help increase fan engagement and interaction. Include memes, infographics, quotes and anything else that you think your fans would appreciate.
Museums provide a great look back at the past and can provide insightful lessons in social media. Make sure to include something for free, a full history and use image on your social media accounts. Where else have you learned lessons in social media?
